Do you need a Lithium Specific Charger for your Lithium Battery?

YES!

Why should you be using optimate lithium battery chargers for
your high performance lithium battery?

The much lighter lithium ferrous phosphate battery generates four times more cranking amps than an equivalent AGM lead acid battery

But this high performance lithium technology is very expensive.

To remain affordable Lithium Ferrous phosphate batteries are designed to deliver similar cranking amps to lead acid, but with 3 to 4 times less Amp hour capacity.

In other words, LFP batteries are much lighter and pack a stronger punch, but they don't have the endurance the last long.

That's why you need a battery charger more frequently with the lithium battery, than with your lead acid battery.

Which brings us to the following facts.

Fact One.

Lithium Ferrous phosphate batteries go flat quicker in a stored vehicle as the vehicles "always on" circuitry, drains that smaller lithium battery faster.

Fact Two.

The smaller lithium battery delivers higher voltage than lead acid, and it's rated cranking amps down to 10% charge, but only if all four cells in the lithium battery are equally charged.

OptiMate lithium charge method includes a unique pulse equalised cell balance mode that always brings all cells up to full charge.

And then the OptiMate lithium maintenance mode delivers the right charge to keep the lithium battery at 100% while supporting always on circuitry.

That's ideal when the vehicle owner never forgets to hook up the battery charger and maintain the battery.

But what happens if the owner forgot? - And now the battery is dead flat.

Fact Three.

A flat lithium battery needs low current to recover safely.

Lithium cells are in a vulnerable state when they are completely discharged,  they need to be nursed back to health with low current before accepting normal
charge.

Charging at high current when the battery is flat, especially voltages below nine volts will damage the battery. ( using high current jump packs are not recommended)

The standard battery charger delivers high current at low voltage, and as voltage rises, the current tapers off.

You might compare it to the shape of a pyramid high current at the low voltage
base that tapers off to low current and high voltage.

Now the OptiMate Lithium turns that charging pyramid upside down.

It starts from 0.5 volts with low current at low voltage and slowly increases current until the battery reaches 12.8 volts which is around 10% charge.

After verifying battery health, it delivers full charge.

Charging at a too high voltage more than 14.6 volts or continuing to charge the battery once full will cause that battery to overheat and suffer damage.

Now OptiMate Lithium chargers guarantee that will never happen as they deliver accurate multi step charging only up to the ideal maximum voltage of 14.4 volts, which is around 3.6 volts per cell.

So OptiMate Lithium is that race fuel for your lithium battery to get the best from the battery.

Optimal Lithium - Battery performance guaranteed.
